Senior Project Manager | Structural Steel Fabrication & Erection
Whitmore Steel (WSI) | San Diego, CA | Remote / Hybrid / On-site
$125,000–$155,000 annually | Full-time
Lead the projects. Own the results. Help shape what's next.
Whitmore Steel is an AISC-certified structural steel fabricator and erector based in San Diego, California. We deliver complex commercial, healthcare, industrial, and public works projects, working with leading general contractors and self-performing erection with our own crews.
We're looking for an experienced Structural Steel Project Manager who understands the business from detailing and fabrication through field erection, takes ownership of results, and knows how to keep projects moving.
This is an opportunity to work directly with company leadership, take on meaningful responsibility, and help shape the next stage of WSI's growth.
What You'll Own
- Project delivery: Lead structural steel projects from detailing and procurement through fabrication, erection, and closeout.
- Financial performance: Own budgets, schedules, forecasting, change orders, and project profitability.
- Team coordination: Work directly with GCs, engineers, detailers, shop personnel, and field crews.
- Problem-solving: Anticipate challenges, drive solutions, and take responsibility for outcomes.
- Continuous improvement: Help strengthen project delivery processes, support other PMs, and contribute to preconstruction efforts.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of structural steel project management experience preferred. Proven project ownership and results matter more than years alone.
- Strong understanding of steel detailing, fabrication, erection sequencing, and construction coordination.
- Proven ability to manage project financials, schedules, and client relationships.
- A practical, proactive approach with sound judgment, strong communication, and a sense of ownership.
Experience with Tekla PowerFab, design-assist, or technically demanding projects is a plus.
We also welcome accomplished Project Managers who are ready to step into a senior role.
